    The Matadors

Canada’s "horrorbilly" band The Matadors formed in 1995 in London, Ontario. They were originally a cover band, playing mostly classic country and 1950s rockabilly songs, being booked mostly for corporate gigs and weddings. Singer and guitarist “Howlin’ Hooch” Parkins wrote four original songs in 1998, including “Let’s Ride” which appeared on the debut Matadors album “Hellblazin” 4 years later. After recording those original tracks, Hooch became unsatisfied with being a cover act and thus, The Matadors were born. Five albums later, they continue to solidify themselves as Canada’s greatest psychobilly/horrorbilly band.

There have been all sorts of controversies around the subject matter of their music and they are known for their highly entertaining live show, which includes blood-shooting puppets, foam-launching machines, dancing girls - anything really that gets a reaction out of people. They return to play the Rickshaw on Thursday, May 7th.
